February 2020 Newsletter
Hello Friends,

It’s been a while since you’ve received one of these newsletters from me. We’ve been focused on upgrading our infrastructure, we launched a new website, I’ve been out advising global clients, speaking a ton, putting on leadership development programs, and teaching in a couple of executive education programs.

Here are 5 discoveries:

1. A strong economy hides a lot of organizational sins - from poorly formulated or articulated strategies, to badly designed org. structures, and the wrong people in the wrong roles, when the market is strong, many of these fundamentals get ignored!

2. Your culture is the culmination of the behaviors you’re willing to tolerate - great performers who are jerks, are cancers in your organization. It’s shortsighted to celebrate their performance, while you ignore that their attitude, teamwork, and collaboration skills are nonexistent!

3. If you don’t develop your +1 leaders, how will you remain relevant - every leader should have a +1 - that sharp next tier leader they want to take under their wings to develop into greater heights. I encourage leaders I work with to invite them into our tent and proactively shape them to take over that role.

4. Strategic relationships matter more than ever - the time is now to go deeper and wider in your current client relationships, add value to unique parts of the organization you’ve never explored, co-create new products, services, or innovative business models. That’s how you’ll remain relevant, drive profitable growth, and oh yeah, create barriers to entry by your competitors!

5. The days of any of us walking in with all the answers are long over - do your due diligence, come up with a supposition of how they’d be better off down a specific path, and invite them into your co-creation canvas to collaborate with you and in the process, think and lead differently!

Let me know what are you seeing in the market?

Nour in Forbes, Inc., LinkedIn Newsletter
I’m writing more frequently about Future of Work as a leadership columnist in Forbes. From Strategy Visualization to Whole-Brain Thinking teams, and Fear Is Not a Strategy, I’m tackling just some of the challenges and opportunities (never believe everyone you meet is damaged) I continue to see across a broad spectrum of global clients.

I’m also excited that I’ve been invited to write a
column in Inc. on Relationship Economics - obviously it’s a topic I’m passionate about and hope to share practical examples of my work over the past two decades.

Lastly, I’m also part of a new pilot program at LinkedIn to share a dedicated newsletter through their platform. If
we’re not connected on LinkedIn or you don’t follow me there, it may be worthwhile, as I plan to by hyper focused on personal/professional growth when it comes to your strategic relationships there.

Curve Benders Podcast
I’m writing book #11, Curve Benders, at the nexus of Future of Work and Strategic Relationships. Most of my contemporaries write a book and then get out in the market and talk about it. Why not research the topics you’re passionate about and have a game plan for what you’ll write, but get out and socialize those topics in advance of writing it. So, in typical Nour norm, I’m out speaking about Curve Benders (22 booked speaking engagements in 2020 and 2021) - a book I haven’t written yet!!

I want to know what resonates with a very broad base of international audiences, before I write it.
HERE is a teaser video  One of the springs of not just inspiration, but incredible insights in the process has been the Curve Benders podcast. Come join us and email for any questions or suggestions on how I can elevate your experience. I’m trying to get out 1-2 episodes a week - an aspiration to be sure!

Nour Cohort Community Rockstars
Several years ago, two events triggered an idea. One client wanted me to speak on the same day in NYC, as I had committed to another client in LA. Separately, a global client asked if I could train 3,500 attendees at an upcoming meeting on Relationship Economics in ONE day!

As many of you know, I’m a solo practitioner and having worked with hundreds of global clients, none of them have ever hired me for how many copiers I own! My clients are tough, smart, question output (results of our work together) vs. input (what I do or how), they’re always asking what’s in it for them, are curious about the thought- or practice-leadership I can bring, they are extremely action oriented, and they deeply believe in co-creating their success in our work together.

What I love most about my best clients - they have a high tolerance for risk and are willing to fail, learn and move forward stronger and more relevant. So, two years ago, I designed, developed, and created our
Cohort Community, comprised of incredibly talented people who can go into various client engagements with me and help them improve their conditions.

In the coming weeks and months, we’ll feature each in a newsletter, podcast, and on our various social channels. One relationship describes it as the Justice League of fantastic thought- and practice-leaders with unique superpowers! ;-)
